the first two points are not complety true, tbh. (and no, that doesn't mean that i'm an ambivert) no one - no extrovert or introvert are 100% just that. everybody sometimes needs time alone. and everybody sometimes needs someone to talk to. i am an introvert. but i do enjoy smalltalk. there is no pressure in these kinds of chats. and i do like to speak/chat with someone in person too. in some cases, i absolutely enjoy it more than texting. but it matters who i talk to and how long. i have some friends who just sit with me in discord and we all do our things. that's nice.
i enjoy the company of ppl and talking to them. writing can be so dang trying and i don't want to converse all dang day long which is the case in some written chats. i just can't do it every day. and the ppl i talk to most to are those wonderful ppl who you can be alone with together. (in the positive way)
being an introvert doesn't automatically mean that we dislike x or y. it just means our batteries drain quicker while being in company. (it's that simple) it does not mean that we dislike company.
so i opt not to generalise this.

Points 1, 2 and 3 definitely click the most with me. Points 4 and 5 to a lesser extent, but still noteworthy.
I'm usually just going to get on with the task at hand and not talk about what me or someone else watched last night. If it ain't tied to work, I generally just tune it out. I prefer to do text-based DMs or group chats than actively engage in voice chat or be the one to initiate it, and half the time I've got so many ideas running through my head I want to make work, but just generally can't seem to find a quiet spot and moment where I can just get into the zone making them happen.
I'd definitely sooner prefer having people around in my life who see me for me, social difficulties and all, and don't try to push me out of my comfort zone. Going out and meeting new people just isn't my thing. I'd sooner prefer the tortoise approach by building up meaningful bonds with the folks I do know than speeding from one friendship to the next.

I am an introvert and my grandma is one of the most extroverted people I know. She doesn't always get me. She finds it sad if I don't meet up with friends in the weekend and believes I need to be 'fixed'. She thinks I only avoid social contact because I am shy but she doesn't seem to understand that I looovee being alone. I remember there even was a time were she kept encouraging me to be different and compared me with people who where more outgoing than me. For a while I also thought I needed to be fixed but I no longer think that way. I know she's only trying to make me happy and wants me to live my life to the fullest but we are just completely different people. Lately my grandma has been more understanding of me. When we are together she makes sure to avoid places with a lot of people and that makes me really happy

Just as introverts do not press their lifestyle on the social people, do not press your lifestyle on us. We do not want to be social. Many of us do not even want friends. No introvert is ever seen trying to force a social person to isolate themself. Why do the social people feel they must pressure the introverts to be pressure. Not all of us are reliant on the herd, desperately seek approval from the herd, nor even require companionship. That is the social person's handicap, not an introverts.
I use the pronouns, us, and, we, to describe the introverts. It is not an appropriate pronoun because introverts are rarely ever in a situation to consider introverts us and we. Introverts are part of no group.

I don't know about other introverts, but there's something that I hate and makes my head overdrive: strangers starting conversation with me, outside. Yes, overdrive is the right word here! Why I hate? Because every single effen time, I come as rude, when I'm not. I just get very uncomfortable and I try to think something to say, which some times takes up to 30 seconds to come out of my mouth. It's ridiculous and then I feel embarrassed. So, most of the times, I'll say something very short, like yeah and this will make other people feel like I'm being rude. FFS people, not every person you see on the streets, or outside, is willing or even able to talk out of the blue!

Being a shy introvert is weird. I often feel like an ambivert but I dont find energy in socializing and it makes me feel drained after a few conversations. However, my schools policy for community engaging basically demands extroversion, so I have to push myself to talk to people. Small talk is the absolute worst for me, its really awkward. I have more than a few friends, and in the nicest way possible, I do not like being around them. I like being by myself, but then it makes me feel awkward, like if Im not with someone Ill be deemed weird or the teachers wont think Im being inclusive.

I'm an ambivert, sometimes I'm introverted, sometimes I'm extroverted. I relate to every point in the video whether it's about the introverts or the extroverts. Most of the time I don't like small talk, sometimes I do. I like writing but I also like speaking. I love time with others, but sometimes I also love being alone. Im fine with shallow connections, love them, but my closest friends mean the world to me and their much easier to open up to. sometimes when people encourage me to party or talk, I do it and I'm fine with it, Other times not so much.

As an introvert I really understand the we dont need fixing part. All the people Ive been friends with claim their introverts but when I tell them I didnt go to homecoming freshmen year they tell me you cant stay in your house all day and read books or they say your a boring person. I dont like social events and I never have liked them. Im always so over stimulated, my hands are always clammy and sweaty, and Im never just myself because I dont like being around crowds and I think thats what people need to understand about introverts: -)

I have some of the signs except for 2. One sign I do not have is not liking small conversations. Another sign that I do kind of have is that I like writing more than speaking. I also think that you should have added Not wanting any help from anyone that has more experience than you do because I have that issue and every day my brain tells me Please just go and get some help. Then I am like I can do this on my own thank you very much. Then my brain says But don't say I didn't give you any advice that might help you in the future.

Ugh the need to ' fix' introverts is annoying at times. Growing up I was made it feel weird for being an introvert. With age came self acceptance and confidence in who and what I am. Now if random people try to psychoanalyse me 'oh are u sad? Why so serious? U know u should participate in office parties more. '
I just go ' why does my silence make you uncomfortable? U do not like your own company? Are you running away from yourself? Dont worry u can tell me' lol. Taste your own medicine sir!

This all resonates with me. My partner is an extrovert, and I've been with him about 5-1/2 years now; he's finally got a project that requires him to be out of town a lot, and I'm finding myself unable to take advantage of my alone time simply because I have a cold (no 'Rona--I did get tested, but it always felt like a garden- variety cold. So disappointing, though healing is important too.

I don't really know if I am a Introvert. I really like to talk about my Interests even with people I don't know that good but on the other hand I don't like to be on the center and I just wanna be left alone. I have to very close friends who are also introverts but when I am with them I am like getting an extrovert. And that is such a strange feeling. I don't really know where I belong.

I love being home doing things, learning but my wife doesn't and always try to make me go out, socialized, I just can't figure out hot to explain to her to just let me be I don't want new friends, I don't want to party, I want to advance my career focus on improvement build meaningful relationships with 1 close friend I have. I don't need fixing, I am proud introvert.

This is the kind of video that I feel that I should show my brother since he doesn't seem to understand that I'm an introvert while he's extroverted (most likely, but I'm a little worried that he might take this video the wrong way and get mad because I'm not constantly having my attention towards him or something.

I actually have all the signs that are mentioned in this video. but I wish my dad could also understand me rather than trying to change me all the time. this is causing me so many issues with my parents. it's like I'm an introvert and EVERYONE in my family and relatives are extroverts. I'm living in a nightmare.

The only reason I can think of to do smalltalk, is to get rid of the urge to say something, but have to really think about what I can speak about with another person.
It's honestly why I hate starting conversations, because it causes a level of stress, along with keeping up a mask around people.

My family don't really like me being an introvert. They said its some kind of sickness or something. Even some of my close friends left me because they said i was boring and don't hang out with them some of the time. It really hurts cause i love them so much even though i didn't show it much.

As an introvert I can definitely relate to 3, I'm the eldest of 3 brothers (13 right now) and my brothers have realised I hate it when they open my door so it's become a usual game for them to open my bedroom door then runaway and see who can get me the most ticked off.
reply

Thank you, my girlfriend is way more introvert than me. And even I can't tell if I'm an introvert or an extrovert. Recently I really enjoy small talk but I still love my time alone. Still love the time alone with my girlfriend and in group with my girlfriend

Wish my mom would actually understand this. She always told me off for not speaking much or speaking softly or acting like I barely had energy. She doesn't believe in the born introvert/extrovert bit. She thinks I'm just not making an effort to change.

Every time my phone rings I kinda give me anxiety and usually dont respond to it. I hate phone call and I just text everyone and every time I pick up the phone they say you have to be more interested for talking to me and that give me more anxiety

This is a video that I will save to send to my sister who doesn't REALIZE or care that I am NOT like her. NEVER have been and NEVER will be. She's not insightful or empathetic. She's a good person, she just lacks some important people skills.

WE DON'T NEED FIXING! Finally! People should understand that! I think the most difficult thing of being an introvert is trying to convince people that there's nothing wrong to let us be! Thanks for letting people know!
reply

There's nothing more frustrating to me than when people say Just speak up. If you start a sentence with just. I immediately don't want to listen to you, because you have no idea how hard it can be to just.
