To dispel one myth. My GF grew up in PA, but in the north/central area of the state. Never really had Taylor ham growing up. I grew up in South Jersey, so know all about it. Introduced it to her, and she loves it. So, it's not a nostalgia act at all. WE now live in the Philly area, and pork roll is on many places breakfast/brunch menus along with scrapple.

Im from Jersey and moved to Denver CO three years ago. Was missing pork roll and found some at a grocery store here! Could not believe my eyes! I asked the deli clerk and she said that a guy from jersey lives here and he puts in a special request for the Taylor ham and they get it for him and sell the rest that hes doesnt buy. Amazing.

Im from far northern suburbs of Philly and I love pork roll, either Taylor or Caseys. Being a semi driver across the country, I can tell ya, peeps even in VA dont know about pork roll Thank you for showing how its made, I was always afraid it was similar to Scrapple which I do not like. Chris love your Alive show

Its porkroll. Taylor Ham is a brand of porkroll. If you look at a package of Taylor Ham even they call it porkroll. Its like calling all tissues Kleenex. If you insist on calling it Taylor Ham then please also name the brand of eggs, cheese and ketchup that you use as well.

Porkroll, egg [fried, overhard] and American cheese, on a hard roll [sometimes called a kaiser, or grinder], was my go to breakfast for many years, when I lived in central Jersey. I lived in Case Porkroll territory, nobody called it 'Taylor Ham'.

If you don't have distilled water just put a jug of tap water uncovered on your counter for a day. The chlorine will come out into the air. You'll be fine. Even better put it in a pan, more surface area for evaporation of the chlorine.

so, I'm wondering why you didn't go with any jowls in the mix for the pork. it seems to me like the right kind of pork product to have jowls. (I'm thinking because it's appearance reminds me of both spam and Braunschweiger)

HOLY CATS, IT'S RAINING BOYS! Welcome to a special episode of Prime Time with Brad Leone from Bon Appetit! This is basically like Seinfeld and Friends doing a crossover episode but MUCH FUNNIER. HAVE FUN Y'ALL! PORK ROLL RULES!

I was born in jersey but I moved to Pennsylvania when I was 4 so I grew up calling it pork roll even though the rest of my family called it taylored ham. After moving back and forth between jersey and pa I call it both lol

Ok, the product is made in Trenton NJ, and it's EXCLUSIVELY called pork roll in that entire region of the state. Enough said. People from North Jersey were just late to get the memo and their made up name just stuck with them.
