Let's make Korean rice cake soup on New Year's Day! It's a delicious, filling soup made of disc-shaped rice cakes in a clear broth. Genevieve: I just saw this in January 2020, it's not too late to enjoy! I don't know why but I'm so inspired by this soup. I always learn so much about ingredients and techniques when I watch, such that it changes the way I cook ANYTHING! I think it's because Maangchi is truly generous with her knowledge n experience. . there is no such thing as a secret recipe, ingredient or technique. . everything is shared. n no ego I get from so many professional chefs I've worked with. just a very sincere, home cook enriching the world with her cooking. she is a YouTube treasure!

I had a non-traditional version of this soup many years ago at a Chinese restaurant. It's one of my favorite foods of all time, and I've been dreaming of it since. I've always wanted to know how to prepare it the right way, and you make it look so simple! I will definitely be trying this. Thank you so much for your energetic personality and easy instructions!

It's an Australian thing to have a barbecue on New Years - either eve or day. Have friends, neighbours, family over and cook up steak and sausages and have that with salad, which is always awesome on a hot day!

As a child of a southern USA mom, we have fried chicken, collard greens, cornbread, beans and rice on New Years! They each represent money whether it means coins or cash bills!

In North Carolina, on new years, we eat Collard Greens (money) and black eyed peas (luck. Also couples kiss right at midnight for a good love life that year!
