We have the honor to eat at Ahi. Restaurant one of the best restaurants in all of New Zealand. Chef Ben Bayly has traveled the country searching for the best ingredients and products, and learning indigenous Mori cooking, and that all comes together at this restaurant. As a country made up of many different people, what is New Zealand food And that’s exactly what Chef Ben Bayly and his team are answering. One of the highlight dishes was the local eel, a huge eel, which is a very traditional food source for the Mori people. And along with the eel, we also ate everything from paua (the famous New Zealand abalone) to crayfish. It was an outstanding meal! Wow this it it for me, as a kiwi chef of 25 years living and working in New Zealand I've had the opportunity to work with and learn from a lot of extraordinary chefs and individuals. Man I would sell a kidney to have the opportunity to work at AHI and learn from the legend Ben Bayly. Such passion, artistry and creativity but also respect for the culture and ingredients. Simply awesome. Thanks Mark for bringing this (our country and it's great food and people) to your audience of many.

I love New Zealand
And I finally remember who Mark keeps reminding me of; Phoebe's date/boyfriend Parker (played by Alec Baldwin) who, according to Phoebe is like Santa Claus on Prozac! In Disneyland. getting laid!
It's kinda funny to me how he keeps laughing and smiling and in moments where he seems somewhat uncomfortable, like slicing the desert, he smiles more and more the harder it gets to cut it cleanly

New Zealand has some of the best food in the world. Far better than America has too offer. They have the same standards as what we in the uk have unlike Ametica who don't care what chemicals and hormones and additives they add to the food. I would choose New Zealand over America 100 %

@lizvickers7156 I don't think you know what domestication even means, because this isn't even "trying to domesticate." You underestimate the intelligence of wild animals; animals don't suddenly become "trusting of ALL HUMANS" just because they meet a single friendly human. This only happens when a wild animal is raised as a baby in captivity. Otherwise normal wild animals actually make association with scent and some animals can even recognize faces.

I don't know what you think you're trying to prove on YouTube but you've definitely proven you have no *educational* background with foxes let alone wild animals. The foxes come and go as they please, and even move onto new territory eventually as goachwriter has literally shown multiple times in her previous videos. The video titles and narration are really just meant for fluff and not to be taken so literally. I hope one day you actually do some learning and research before trying to make an argument.

I'm a half-Thai, half-Kiwi person living in New Zealand. Your videos always make me miss Thailand, so it's a nice change to see you eating at places I've already eaten instead of places I have to fly to! (Needless to say, I'm a massive fan of you and these NZ videos)

What! No fresh cream, unwhipped on the pavlova You missed out. Anyway, you are in NZ at the start to summer at the start of December. If you are still here on XMAS day you will have a summer Christmas. Jandels, shorts, t shirt, maybe the beach. And Pavlova!

Yum, Yum, Yum! Lol. New Zealand is young but indigenous people have been here for a lot longer than a few hundred years. Humanity has been here for maybe over a thousand years. I loved your episode of the hangi master too. I wish I was there with you eating lol.

Another fantastic video Mark! This NZ series has been an absolute treat and made me even more homesick. The food looks amazing. Shout out to Chef Ben and the family at Ahi. Next time I come home, I'll be drop gin for a feed. Sending love from across the ditch.

Please see Eateries that are not high end but where real kiwis eat, like local eatiries where we have a diverse range of Culteral food that should be highlighted. We are a multicultural society and have amazing chefs from all walks of life. X

If you ever get the Chance eat Conger Eels, they are so much sweeter than Freshies if you catch do NOT put your finger anywhere near their mouth, the BIG ones grow to 2metres and have powerful jaws, that will crush your fingers.

FYI that eel is probably between 60-80 years old and can live up to 120 years. Due to loss of habitat the once thriving species is now endangered. It's also not farmed so any eel you eat has been taken from the wild.

This is one of the best videos you've ever put out. Not only are the ingredients some of the best quality for each dish, but the passion Chef Ben has for the design of each plate really blows me away. What a place to eat.

Wow! I like how the chef sourced the products in their most natural forms. Smoking eels, really bring back memories of my grandparents, how they would smoke eels over log. Thanks Mark!

Pakeha means white pig/, its racist.
why do New Zealanders still use this word
especially when its original use was linked heavily to cannibalisms of white early settlers
