In this VLOG entry, I'm traveling north to Portland along the most scenic and incredible drive I've ever experienced: Highway 101 along the Oregon coast. Along the way I'll see elk, moose, salmon, deer, a grey whale carcass and some of the most breathtaking views of my life

I caught the last two episodes on my phone while at work. There are a ton of beautiful picturesque places to film and take still photos of as well in this country, even in the rain. Man, you were close to those elk, amazing.
Speaking of close, getting closer to realizing a yak. going to sell back 40 hrs of vacation; that will put me within reach (fortunately I can do this. My job (and position with the company) doesn't make it easy to take time off in long stretches, lol. Looking at three boats, the Vibe Sea Ghost 130, the Nucanoe Flint and the SS127. The latter will be a stretch and I want to move faster on this than waiting until 2018 and standing in line. The Vibe is more reasonable for me, all have the right chairs. at 285 lbs, 5' 10 and kind of beat up at 62.
Any thoughts? I will be fishing lakes primarily freshwater, bass and Striper are available here in the Phoenix hinterlands. I bought a paddle, have much of the other gear and the PFD. My friends laugh, but I tell them it's a goal and I have to buy things a piece at a time.
I know you say you aren't an expert, but I have to say, very few people can do what you do and so well, it's inspirational Robert and you should stick with what you love.

Absolutely love the videos. You got me hooked on your Devils river series. Were the elk in Gearhart? They actually get out and play in the surf there. I grew up in Oregon so Im really looking forward to the videos to come. The drive from Sutherlin on hwy 138 and 38 along the Umpqua river to Reedsport is a really pretty drive. Theres an elk refuge just east of Reedsport. The Umpqua is a great river for salmon and steelhead and smallmouth bass.

Hey Robert, my name is Jesse. I am curious to know where you saw the baby Moose. I never heard of Moose on the west coast of Oregon only in the NorthEast portion of Oregon. Glad to hear they are moving there range to the coast; nice habitat for them. Thanks, Jesse. Also, the area of the whitetail deer.

Well said Robert, the rat race lives that seem to bring us down all the time, always dissapiers when you around water and nature, should be part of everyone's lives. I know my son and myself love being in it. Thanks again, great video.

I am loving the VLOG series mate. Getting to see some beautiful parts of the USA. Every time I see vision of the Oregon coast line, I always think of 'The Goonies' filmed in Astoria. Keep up the great work as usual. ATB

Glad you enjoyed your time in Oregon. I have lived this place for the last 3 decades nearly full-time; its is just so wonderful. By far my favorite place on the West Coast (and kinda the whole U. S. )

Port Orford bay and Charleston (west of coos bay) is worth checking out. Cape Arago state park, Simpson reef is amazing you can launch out of Sunset Bay which is also beautiful. Check it out!

We were out that way a while back and hit the Hobbit Trail off the 101 in Florence, Oregon. Fun little hike to the beach.
See you out there.
