Upper body workout perfectly combining dumbbell exercises and my favourite, push ups! This push up and dumbbell workout will be particularly intense on the shoulders and triceps! Each complex is 4 minutes in total. simply work though at a pace to suit you. Complete each exercise per sets and continue for the duration! Following each complex, we go STRAIGHT into push ups! This is for 40 seconds but you may find you need a few seconds to get into the push up position and also let arms somehow regain feeling after the previous complex! We are then onto 3 various exercises some of which are dumbbells and others bodyweight. Towards the end, we can all look forward to an abs complex containing simple movements with the dumbbells to target the entire abs! You will need a pair of dumbbells, a mat and the yoga block/book/stepper you have used previously in other workouts! The dumbbells I am using for your reference are 10kg each and also 6kg each, however 1 pair is great, just work to your pace to suit your weights! Complex 1 PLANK TWIST x 10 each side PLANK HIPS UP & DOWN SIDE PLANK TO HOVER x 10 SIDE PLANK TO HOVER x 10 (switch) PUSH UPS OVERHEAD PRESS ROW TO CURL TO PRESS ROW TO CURL TO PRESS (switch) Complex 2 (all x 10 reps) DIAMOND PRESS FLYES TRICEP PRESS CHEST PRESS PUSH UPS TRICEP KICKBACKS TRICEP KICKBACKS (switch) REAR FLYES Complex 3 ARNOLD PRESS x 10 LATERALS x 10(5 each side) FRONTALS x 10 (5 each side) PALM UP CURLS x 10 PUSH UPS FRONTALS TO LATERALS UNEVEN PUSH UP TO PUSH UP UNEVEN PUSH UP TO PUSH UP (switch) Complex 4 (all x 10 reps) SINGLE ARM PRESS UNEVEN PUSH UP ON DB Repeat opposite side PUSH UPS HAMMER CURLS DIVE PUSH UPS WIDE PUSH UPS Complex 5 (all x 10 reps) PULLOVER SKULL CRUSHER SIT UP TO PRESS PUSH UPS ALTERNATING ROWS UNEVEN PUSH UP TO SIDE PLANK UNEVEN PUSH UP TO SIDE PLANK (switch) Complex 6 (all x 10 reps) TOE REACH TO HOLLOW SINGLE LEG DB REACH SINGLE LEG DB REACH (switch) RUSSIAN TWISTS And remember. if I stop midway it doesn-t mean you have to! I went back to complete this series after Epic Endgame ended. I found Caroline after the first two Epic programs, so I-m going a little backwards. My point is: Epic I is just as challenging as Epic Endgame! I can go back and do all these series for the rest of my life and still be challenged, gain muscle & strength, and just feel awesome & Epic!
As far as this particular workout: I failed at Complex 4-. not only had to drop the amount of weight I was lifting, I also barely got through all the reps. I had to keep stopping, and by the end I knew I was running out of time so I just did presses with both arms because I would not have completed each side evenly. BUT I kept going, so I still call it a win! Got a great workout and my arms will be feeling that soreness tonight and tomorrow!

Finishing this workout with such a little bit dissapoinment on myself. I still can't do the push up properly, and I just cheating whenever I feel I can't do it.
My arms were really weak since beginning and when I start to join this program, I can feel it's getting stronger. Even I can't do the push up with my best position, I still enjoy this workout and I won't give up until I can do the push up easily-
It's day 38 since I found and join this program, I can say that my body is improving and I can't wait to have a nice body proportions in the future! -

Hi GIRVANIANS. Caroline is having a well deserved break so I've come back to finish off EPIC I and pick up where I left off to start EPIC HEAT.
This was an awesome workout -, the combination of complexes and extra exercises were phenomenal. They really tested my strength and endurance especially with all the push-ups ---. Thank you Caroline for an amazing session design something quite different to things we've been doing over the last few weeks. I'm looking forward to full body workout which will be amazing I'm sure. --

Holy cow! I like tough workouts and I clearly have not set the bar high enough for myself in the past because these workouts are sooo tough. I love them and they excite me because there are always several new challenges but it is tough to keep up. Ever try and go the same pace Caroline does? It's impossible. She is a beast and I hope she never stops coming out with new videos.

SO the good thing is I've improved my psushups. I for sure can do some. I had to turn to my knees eventually because my arms collapsed: D And another good things is that I was not able to do hollows before I started due to my pelvic organ prolapse. I can now! Thats awesome. But dang this was intense. Maybe I could have ued lower weights but meh. I feel EPIC: D

In my opinion you deserve more likes and followers, but I know that you think those numbers are not as important as the quality of your workout videos,
that's what I love about you!

wow, that was another intense one, had to do a little bit of modifications, but got through it: ) I'm so much looking forward to these workouts every day - so glad there's Epic II, Heat and III coming up - even though I'd like to do Epic 1 again to see if I get through the exercises better than the first time. Tricky decisions lol

I have a technique question: Whenever there's an ab move that says -hollow-, does that mean it's ok for your lower back to lose contact with the matt? I always thought your whole back was meant to be in contact at all times, but the name suggests otherwise and I can't tell in the video if her back is touching or not.

Finally got a chance to have a go at this one again! Still killer the 3rd time-! Those pushups just finish the arms off throughout. Just an amazingly planned, tough workout. Still a favorite of mine a year later! - And I will still come back to it in the future! Thanks Caroline

My hand slipped midworkout, & I pulled something in my wrist near my thumb area. I wasn't able to finish because of the pain. Any tips? -- I'm so close to finishing Epic 1 I don't want to have to take days off again. -
