Shane Dawson Billie Eilish Toxicity, Is Privacy Dead, & Elizabeth Warren's War On Mike Bloomberg Pete: Celebs want to share everything on every social media platform to push their status, keep their fan base engaged and keep the money rolling in. Then they boo hoo when someone says something mean. They spend their days surrounded by sycophants so they aren't ready for any negativity. You're not going to get all of what you want without getting some of what you don't. There is another option, stop the social media campaign. You won't stop trolls and moaning about it just feeds them. Get off the social media and spend time with people you care about, it's far healthier and if you produce good music, movies or whatever then fans will still be your fans.

You didnt mention Apple with their face recognition cameras. Whether you agreed or not the tech is there and you cant trust them to not to use it. We dont read the terms of service when we set up our devices so why dont you expect them to use our info anyway they like? If youve ever been to jail you would know what information they take down to use against you so my stance is theyre slowly implementing that same data collection they take when youre a criminal and applying it to everyone with their slow creep info gathering. Fingerprints and then facial recognition. Next is retinal scans and after that a chip to know who you are. Im not saying it wont be beneficial for us but I dont think the companies collecting this data are ethical. Religion was a control system. It was beneficial but it wasnt centralized after Martin Luther. What Im trying to get at is without an open system where everyone has a say of whats wrong or right regardless of what info they have on everyone, we wont have a system that works for everyone. I only hope people will get educated enough before it becomes a social system of control. Freedom of thought is more important than freedoM of speech. The constitution needs to be updated to include freedom of thought as the first law cause if the companies in the forefront continue with their monopoly over information we will be subject to their rule instead of rule of the people. Im drunk lol I hope my ramblings make sense to somebody. Its hard to watch whats going on and make sense of it but my Faith in humanity is still strong. I think we can this world better.

On the subject of the UC system, can y'all discuss the recent graduate protests for a cost of living adjustment? It started at UCSC back in December, and has spread to a lesser degree to other campuses, but it's been getting tense at UCSC recently with arrests and threats of mass firings for TAs who've been refusing to submit undergrad grades. I attend a different UC in a different high cost area, and our graduate students work so hard to do their research while also TA-ing our classes and being available to undergrads in and out of office hours, but they all struggle to pay rent and feed themselves because the UC system has a fixed pay rate across all UC campuses for TAs (so grads at UCR or UCM make the same as grads at UCSC or UCSB) A lot of them are also not allowed to find work outside of university campuses, especially international students who are here on visa, which makes it doubly worse during summer when there are fewer classes to TA. I know it's not a hot topic right now, but it's really frustrating seeing them (and undergrads to a degree) struggle with rent and food when our chancellors are making 300, 000-800, 000 a year while simultaneously calling for tuition hikes and packing us into housing like sardines (which is something that happened last year on my campus)

To any students out there, is 1984 still required reading? If not, go read it. When I was in school we thought that this was an impossibility in North America because of how strongly we valued freedom. Now, a couple of decades later, it's looking almost inevitable. The worst part is that we gave it away out of ignorance when we started using the internet without being aware of the massive accumulation of personal data. Social Media is responsible for more than just trolling, we have a generation that is willing to offer up all the information a person could ever ask for and not give it a thought. I watched the collapse of real freedom happen in just a few short years. My kids will never understand what it was like to be an isolated individual (in a good way, the freedom to be anonymous to the rest of the world. To not be a profile on a global network, accessible to anyone, anywhere.

I think that's the thing though. Especially with Billie. She was thrusted into the limelight. It started out organic and by word of mouth, but in the end it was incessant promotion, like One Direction levels. And theres nothing like that kind of promotion to turn people off to someone like that and who appeals to a young audience. It's like hearing the same song on the radio over and over again. Even if you like the artists, if you arent a hardcore fan that kind of constant presence is like having to watch an ad for a service or product you already own over and over again. It doesn't end up being a positive introduction to a new audience, it doesnt make it easier on the artist, it's a lot of wasted effort and hollywood jerking itself off, and it just tanks new talent. And that's when the assholes come out of the woodwork online.

All those grandmas and grandpas on stage. Honestly. At that age is there anything you care about anymore? Besides reputation? I mean it's like they just wanna get their name in a history book and don't care about policies, not like they actually are the ones working on them, either. What faculties do they have at that age to do that when it's not their life's work? It's more like a suggestion and someone does it for you, then other people agree or disagree and you need to figure out who you can afford to piss off, which, let's be honest, it's not the people they wanna keep happy. At the same time, how much actual change can a president actually intact? If they don't want to be hounded and lack support, like many others, they need to kiss the ass of corporations. Capitalism is not aging well.

I loath online bullying, I don't understand why people still think it's ok after witnessing what bullying can do to someone. I have been following Amberlyn for a few years, at first I found her mildly entertaining and was interested in her journey, but I have to stop watching because of the uncontrollable abuse she gets every minute of the day. It brings me down so low and it's not directed towards me. I'm just sad for humanity. And to think that I brought a child into this cesspool of mornons with not enough neurones to create empathy. I try defending her here and there but there's no point, it's like I'm speaking another language. I'm certain that most of these online trolls consider themselves good people in real life, they are so disconnected. Sad.

There better be an agreement you sign and can revoke to allowed/deny your face to be scanned. If you say no, then you are not even in the system: so another person cannot be mistaken for your face and have your info displayed about them if the tech should fail. AND there better be a huge path cleared for lawsuits if the tech fails and my face is used as someone else's and then I get sht for it or bills and sht that aren't mine etc: I need to be able to sue the living-sht out of the cnts that made the tech or used the tech etc. ESPECIALLY if I denied the use of my face and scanning my face This is a bad thing. Isn't it enough that our social-security number isn't even private anymore, the only thing you need in many cases to steal someones identity?

That poor old billionaire, he got absolutely slaughtered. just gotta trump it up when youre in that position, reminds me of the clinton v trump debates. Fake news, Lieesss, fake newssss. Crooked Hillary. Just gotta speak over them, and repeat yourself like an idiot over and over. What a circus. Theyre eating eachother alive, and without a united front Im terrified of having 4 more years of trumpdom. Seriously, Im worried hes gonna start a war, declare martial law, and keep himself in power with emergency powers. He wants to be a dictator, thats obvious enough with the respect and admiration he has for current ones, and I dont doubt he will try.

That person tweeting about Shane like they are concerned for him. If they were concerned, they'd know how often he criticises himself and his weight, and how self-conscious he is about his appearance, and they would never, EVER dream of saying what they said. They'd know it was the worst possible thing to say and it would do far more damage than any amount of food would. People that act concerned about someone (especially someone they've never even met, so how dare you anyway) but then say things to tear down their mental health and wellbeing are just wrong and don't have that person's interest at heart at ALL.
