i actually have experienced one thing dramatically changing the course of your life. twice. in high school, i taught myself HTML and the foundations of CSS and wanted to go into web design. but i couldn't master javascript on my own and there was no one to tell me what to do or how to get there in order to position myself to be a successful web designer. i went to college, wasted 2 years on a web design degree that didn't actually teach me any web developing, and at that point i fell off the wagon and got so far behind i had no hope of ever catching up and establishing myself in that career. i switched majors to psychology, because being a therapist was also something i was highly interested in. but again, no one told me to be a therapist you need xyz. i graduated and found out i would need grad school, and it was too late to apply for that year. i tried taking a couple of grad classes at a private school but not only could i not afford it, i couldn't keep up while working the full-time job i now needed to pay my bills. if i had known to go straight from undergrad to grad school, i could have applied for fellowships and on-campus grad housing while i completed my degree. but for the second time i came to a fork in the road with no signage on the correct path, and i chose the wrong way, and lost my opportunity. i'm middle-aged now, and i will never make anything meaningful of my life. it's too late.

Hey there, I have a question. Well i have a friend. We have been friends since many years. At first we 2 were really good with each others but last year she just found some other friend and we were distanced cuz of her there were many argues between us and she also said some things that she shouldn't have said in front of whole class. But after sometime she came back to me. Ofcource things were never same as they used to. We 2 r so different now. But now as our school is finished only way to communicate is to chat but she never texts me or barely replys after so many days. Today is my birthday and she didnt even wished me but I received her text she asked me for class notes. She only texts me when she want something related to study. I'm so confused can someone plz tell me that what should I do should I keep helping or not plz tell me

Got a doubt from #1 Lesson:
I'm in love with a woman I met at a club I'm at. Though by the time I fell for her I realized she's taken soon after. I would've just moved on but I had some signs her relationship might not be doing too well. Since the way I found out she's taken wasn't by her talking about him to me casually, but instead trying to say hello throughout text he took her phone and send me over a picture of himself. Ever since that and a few more things that were going on that made my belief grow bigger, I've decided to wait for a while until something happens.
Would it still be a good idea to just approach her and tell her how I feel, or just wait for a more decent time / let things be the way they are?

Can anyone relate to the existential idea that struggling for survival is utterly meaningless without a higher purpose?
If I didn't have a purpose and just had to do work (I don't care about, draining all of my already low energy reserves just to afford basic needs, I could just avoid the pointless effort altogether and die instantly.
But if all my basic needs are met, I can focus on more important things and work on my own success tirelessly and thrive due to my talents and realized high potential - with pleasure.
Finding a purpose and goal in life turned me from a dead-inside suicidal nihilist into a depressed existentialist.

While all these mentioned above are true or mostly true in some shape or form, none of them are what people learn too late in their life. In fact most of the things are so trivial that everybody knows them already even if they are not thinking about them. You can highlight the importance of these wisdoms or principles, but you don't need to exaggerate or go to a hyperbole to make your point. Finally, while you are just rushing through all these principles, you never actually recommend anything that someone can take away or can do differently to have a more wholesome life experience.

Everytime i hear your videos, i feel be motivated. As this time, i feel bored, sad about my job, my relationship. and i choose to listen to this video and i feel better. i not only can pratice english listening skill ( I'm Vietnamese and I'm not very good at english) but also I have more motivation. I do one thing at a time and focus doing it. This morning i have already done 2 tasks and i feel very comfortable. My another problem is that I care for many things others think about me. It makes me tired, anxiety and less confident. I fear to speak up and express my opinions.

Sorry! But there is some check out the fox things in life that people are better off doing. Such as its better for women to have children in their 20s they think they have forever to have children. And life isnt as messy as you say it is. If you come from a Background with no structure, thatll be messy. But there are plenty people come from the life with some structure and their life isnt as messy because they had that structure. Sounds like to me youre just saying stuff to make people feel good.

Despite your expectations, nothing is as good or as bad as you think.
Yea, a lot of the decisions I made in life have turned out much better than I could have ever hoped for.
Weird advice, if you are proactive and plan your finances (and learn how to invest) you can navigate most hardships.
#1 Advice, find someone who will stick with you, for better or for worse and in sickness or in health.
If you can find that, and make a reasonable return on your investments, you are set.

All if them apply more or less, and so, some of them I acknoledge well already, while others not yet that much. For example, today and tomorrow, I have a final practical exam, and even though its not the worst so far, I've messed up already and it really ruined my day. But you are right. Even with this mistake, I will pass it. And even with maybe worse degree, It wont affect me too much in the future. So this is the lesson I constantly try to learn.

The one Life Advice I would give. Is be Yourself. Failure is Part of Life. Learn from it. Grow through it. And next time try to do better.

The retirement one is exactly opposite for me unfortunately. Ive pushed toward a career I loved but in reality, I found, no matter what I do, I dislike everything I do so retirement is now my only goal so I can finally do what I love. The reason I can just do what I love is because I dont get paid for it or I get paid like 30k a year for it

As a retired cop I want to thank you. I made a very good living for 25 years off people who were stoopid enough to believe number 7. It's foolish to think you can't live a happy life and trust no one. A life with a very small circle of highly trusted people is way more rewarding than being a perpetual victim of your stoopid choices. ..

Advice from someone who found bliss later in life. When picking your life partner, try not to base your search on a checklist of qualities, and instead pay close attention to how you each affect one another. People affect each other differently. If you each bring out the best version of the other, theyre a keeper. Marry that person.

I'm three years out from retirement and my job challenges have changed, as have I. As a software developer, it is increasingly difficult for me to keep up with the ever changing and complex software which I have to adapt and maintain. I will finish out my career as best I can, but I doo dream about reaching retirement; )

You cant have it all but my school ehe here is all of the skills you need to master and get nearly perfect in under a week or else you will not study here any more. Our literal passing score is at least above 83% in minor subjects but 85% in the major subjects and we have 9 subjects

Absurd. No matter what you do or don't do when you put yourself out there, the world will decide. All of your failures or successes are not yours. They belong to the world and have been informed and activated by it. The sooner you come to terms with that the better off you will be.

I've recently contacted some of the people from college I thought hated me and tried to apologize or own up to my mistakes and funny thing, 80% thought nothing of the sort about me and I was just reading into social anxieties I was having at the time.

How can I trust opening up to new people when sooner or later they will know that Im different from my mental condition and not be taken advantage of being made fun of for that, in a passive, aggressive, or sarcastic away?
reply

is trusting people really worth it when EVERYONE betrays me eventually? By now I know the problem is me but i just wish I knew what I was doing wrong. They won't even tell me. Or maybe im too dumb to understand.

These so called truths seem to be general statements for 10-years old kids. If a grown-up didn't know this by 20 years old I feel sorry for her/him. life is more complex than these thrusts

Once somebody told me something and I believed it and it ruined my life leaving very small hope for the future no matter how hard I try or how much I get better

Obviously this is wrote by a kid.
It's never too late to learn, anything.
You'll learn this when you get older and hopefully become wise.
