Today I am cooking at home and making brown sugar banana pancakes. I am going on my second day of power outages and staying warm has become a priority. With a little creativity and resourcefulness, I think we will be okay. 09mylittlestar: Thanks for posting. I live in San Antonio and we are also dealing with this winter weather also, but I have to say the snow is absolutely beautiful. For others reading, you have to understand we don t ever get weather like this in South Texas. So it s exciting but also the whole city shuts down. Stay warm and safe everyone

After losing power for 38 days in Florida. With degrees hitting 98 feeling like 106. Having to live off of two power converters, on our vehicles to run our freezers. living life down south without power is rougher than living in the cold without power. Just as you have done you're outside can become your refrigerator/freezer. And if you have a fireplace you can always keep warm. I sure miss the South and I sure miss the warmth. But I'll tell you what. The ease of surviving the cold against surviving the heat. With mosquitoes water moccasins alligators brown widows black widows brown recluses. Compared to going through a winter. Winter isn't that bad. Who am I kidding, I can't wait to move back down south.

I have been so worried about you and your family! This weather is so crazy and we keep checking on our family in Granbury (they have a frozen toilet. Your boys have certainly come up with the best solution! Thanks for working in these bad conditions but I guess you all need hot food. . Please take care and we are sending virtual hugs and prayers for this to be over soon. My kids had a WEEK with no power last August in Ct when one of those big storms blew through! No A/C and no refrigerator! I think I would prefer survival in the cold to losing power in the heat!

You should do like we did go on Amazon and look at jackery battery banks you will have hours of power and we ordered solar panels 100 watts that can charge your batter bank free with the sun. there s one on Amazon called golabs portable power station and it has 100. 00 off coupon which makes it 199. 00 it s great for times like this or camping or bbq anything or anywhere you need power. we still have power so I didn t have to use it but if I do I got it lol. I m ordering me another bc this is only the beginning with this crazy weather

Mama', THIS sounds absolutely delicious! Seriously fattening! LOL I have a quart of real maple syrup that's been crying out for friendship, and this looks like an appropriate match. :)
ALSO, I want to say 'Thank You' for your cooking demonstration of a Roast Chicken. I've used it 3 times in the last 2 months, and have gotten rave reviews each time! It's as tasty as fried chicken with all the herbs and spices I use, and a lot less messy to make. A real winner! I love to cook, but hate the clean-up required afterwards. LOL

Praying that you guys down there in Texas get some electricity soon I know how I must feel to be cold but we're not that far from you all and we have the privilege right now of having electricity but we don't know how long that's going to last here in Mississippi we have one more front coming through on Wednesday and then we should be warming up stay safe and our prayers are with you

You re fortunate to have a gas stove. Power outages happen up here often, but are usually remedied fairly quickly. We have to. In winter, pipes freeze and burst. Our problem is water mains. Your temperature in Texas is unbelievable. It s our normal weather of temps in the low teens. I hope you ll have power restored soon. Watch out for carbon monoxide with gas. Be safe.

Here in California, they shut our power off if the wind blows. Crazy. So I had to buy a generator. Now I m glad I did because of the crazy world that we live in. I have been looking at property in San Antonio Texas and I was shocked that this storm came in like it did. I really hope you get your power on soon you re a great mom and a great wife.

Man, I am sorry to hear this! I'm from South Texas now living in MT, so I am used to this. but I know folks down there aren't! Way to hang Angelica, good on you! I hope the power returns soon! We saw windchills in the -40's, but we are above zero (single digits, but still) today! My best to the whole family!

I hope you guys get your power back. I remember being without gas and lights when I was young with my family for a month in the winter. We were able to get our light back sooner but we had to wait a whole month for our gas to get turn on again. No bueno. Boiling a big pot of water can help bring some warmth back.
