ll see an actual occlusion cluster set and hear what you should be focusing on if you are going to attempt to use this muscle building workout intensifier. Early research suggests that occlusion training can be beneficial for a few reasons. First, because you don-t have to use as much weight to cause type II fiber activation, it-s proponents argue that you can get the same benefits that heavy weight training would do without having to subject your joints to the loads. While chemically there could be some support for this, I can tell you that this one technique will never replace the benefits of lifting heavy weights. You cannot think that restrictive blood flow workouts will be your go to technique that will create all the muscle gain you are hoping for. Work it in with your heavy training and you may have a powerful one-two combo. The next argument for occlusion training is that by creating this hypoxic environment within your muscles that you will more quickly fatigue the type I oxidative fibers and get to the more hypertrophy capable type II fibers. Again, this sounds good in practice and has been demonstrated in some published research, but I don-t think this can ultimately replace the benefit of heavy training when it comes to stimulating type II fiber activation. Finally, the metabolic intracellular stress provided by the occlusion training has been argued to cause a stimulus for protein repair and muscle growth. This has actually been demonstrated multiple times in multiple different scenarios and has a likelihood of being a solid benefit of restrictive blood flow training. That said, this isn-t appropriate for everybody. Those trainees who have blood pressure issues or diseases that affect blood flow will definitely want to consult their physician before undertaking RBFT. Especially considering the fact that there are other set intensifying techniques at your disposal that will render your need to do occlusion training much less important if it-s not a fit for you

I do this for my arm workout and let say that this is awesome! I only use it for one bicep and 1 tricep exercise (which happens to be a superset. I do this for 4 sets and then remove. I got bands that were specifically made for this so they are thick and don't cut off blood flow at all (I don't even come close to turning different colors. However, the pump is INSANE and I have noticed gains after starting this. There is nothing about this that feels like I'm doing any damage and aside from extra fatigue, it feels great. Oh yeah, the last thing I'll add is that I'm 42 and it is easier on the joints.

Just saw a few things he did that might have swayed the results.
1. He talks with his right hand, after the application of the t kit he did an extra 5 reps with that arm while explaining what he was going to do.
2. At the end he rolls down the sleeve on his left side, that makes that side appear smaller.
3. The t kit side is on the darker side of the room, so possible that light effected look of redness.
Otherwise it was an informative video, like all videos made by this guy.
Don't think I'd use this method because of worry of bad blood collection at t kit site.

As a physiologist I'm not a fan of this for a couple of reasons first of all blood is designed to move in recovery if you have any propensity to create embolisms not a good idea just go heavier with the weight and your create plenty of lactate acid I just don't think the risk-benefit relationship is there so if you do this be careful guys. I have had people power lift over 900 pound squat and sometimes they have nose bleeds because their blood pressure was so high so be careful stay alive not worth the risk for the slight creasing hypertrophy

I'm seeing some opportunities for this, like around the house with lightweight equipment or after a muscle strain. I wonder if this would work well for some of the home leg & glute work. And I also wonder how you feel about this technique four years after posting the video, and how often you incorporate in your own workouts. Nice arms brother. Keep up the good work.

Hello I am 60 years old, coming back to start working out. I have a thirty % or less of body fat. I can only do light weights on my biceps - due to bad wrists. Did one session or occlusion workout, just few reps and I felt really good, burned like hell and got more size and that size lasted for few hours. This morning my biceps feel hard, it really works for me!

Important Note: Research has shown that if you cut out heavy weightlifting and do occlusion training only (or predominantly, your muscles will outgrow the toughness of your tendons and ligaments as they aren't affected by the occlusion. The heavy weightlifting is necessary to keep your tendons and ligaments strong.

I started using Occlusion through the quarantine because resistance bands and small dumbells are weak. I got great results for my legs and arms. As ive been cutting weight and now able to go to the gym, my arms and legs have kept and gained size and definition.

Early research? lol. This has been around for 50 years. There are literally thousands of scientific papers written on it. I think your videos are great, but you need to stay in your lane. Kaatsu and BFR are certainly not your lane of expertise.

Is this technique only advisable for athletes or can people looking to lose weight use it effectively? Can older people effectively and safely use this technique? Can an overweight (250 lb) 60 year old effectively and safely use this?

Primary doctors (which most people have) know absolutely NOTHING about health and fitness or nutrition outside of the status quo diets such as the DASH diet. They are CLUELESS so asking a dr is equivalent to me asking my car jack
