Is it okay to just skip meals when I literally do not feel hungry?
I am trying to lose weight (I've been unsuccessful for 7+ years) and I am kind of proud of getting to a place when I even have the thought that I really am not hungry. Historically, I am someone who binge eats like a mindless zombie. Since isolation, (1) I've finally been getting 7-9 hours of sleep, (2) I started drinking 3L of water a day (before I wasn't drinking water at all, doctor told me I was chronically dehydrated, (3) foodwise: I don't eat out, cook all my food, (4) I've also decided my eating window is 1pm to 6pm. The thing is I'm really not hungry by 6pm and I don't want to eat later than 6pm because my goal is to go to bed by 9/10pm. I am thinking maybe I should skip that second meal then because it's great to listen to my body and the double benefit of skipping calories = weightloss! I know this sounds like it is leaning towards a disorder of constantly skipping meals but i don't see why I should force myself to eat. By skipping meals, I feel like I'm finally getting control of my binge eating.
It's not fair because even with my 7 years of no success my doctor told me I was nutritionally starving. So what the heck am I supposed to do then? I was nutritionally starving due to dieting but still fat and binged all the time. Now I don't feel like eating/binging as often but I am afraid of this whole nutritionally starving concept being the cause of me being fat all these years so does that mean I just have to force food down my throat and feel bloated/stuffed? And will this help me lose weight in an intuitive and mentally healthy way?

When I was moving into my new house few months ago I found a bag full of old summer clothes that I was wearing like six years ago in college, I tried them on and they were tooo tight, size too small, I cannot butten up blouses. back then I lived in one cute little jeans shorts and now are too small for me, for two sizes. I cried, because I had a hard slap in the face.
I still have these shorts, they are my goal!
I started whole thing eating less, smaller portions and less carbs, but I was checking my weight every day. That was soooooo stressful and so not good for motivation, thank god that battery died on scale; )
Now I added some training. I exercise almost every day for 20-40 minutes. Every other day I do some cardio and few exercises for toning muscles, I do how many and how long I can and every time one exercise more.
Days in between I do joga or exercises for stretching, also I do that too if I am not feeling well, have crams or headache. Bease it is still better than nothing!
I feel better, shorts still doesnt fit me, but maybe in one month they will. Thank you, you inspired me even more.

Hey Lucy, your videos of your weight loss journey inspired me so much. and i have lost 5 kg ( dont worry about my weight though because sometimes is muscle gain and thats great, i see less fat when i look at the mirror, my body is more toned, notice less cellulite feel fit & stronger have more muscles. I eat intuitively but with more veggies fruits nuts and whole food. A bit of bodyweight exercise around 4 times per week and walking hiking swimming or bicycling when i have the chance or am on the mood. Love dancing too -. My goal is to be stronger and healthier so for me is a life goal not for a certain time of period. This way i just enjoy it and dont feel any stress. Still eating chocolate and whatever ( fatty ) i love but less often. During last 3 months i just see progress and my boyfriend see it too. Thank you very much you are my inspiration to change my mindset a very nice and kind person a beautiful woman and a friend!

This video confirmed that I am indeed on the right track when dozens of sources tell me to do this or that. Took me two years until I fully understood that a) nutrition is key (portion sizes and no snacks work for me) and b) to work out in a maintainable and enjoyable fashion. For me, you indeed simplify this whole world of fitness, nutrition and fat loss. You, along two others, really made me realise that it's about lifestyle and changing your mindset to a consistently different lifestyle. I used to hate fitness and working out and eating healthy so much and now I just love it. Because my body feels a lot better. My mind is more focused, I feel stronger, healthy, even some sort of -more awake-. Thanks for helping others out! x

Thank you very much for this video! Losing weight was never an issue when I was younger, but as I get older, it's gotten a lot harder. In the past, I used a certain brand to lose weight and it always worked for me. After watching your video, I realized that the reason why that brand worked was that it used mostly calisthenics. To be honest, I haven't been watching my calories as faithfully as I should but as I am sure you already know it is a journey. I'm now at the stage approaching the end of my workout list an wondering what I can do next to keep myself motivated. Based on your video, I am giving myself a goal to do a handstand by the end of the year. It's something I really miss being able to do.

It is not that simple. Losing weight is not just calories in and calories out as the quality of the calories matters a lot too. Calories from protein don-t have the same effect on the body as calories from carbs for example, as sugar can spike your insulin which makes the body store fat. Even for carbs, 100 cal of pure sugar are not equivalent to 100 cal of fruit for example, in the sense that they won-t be absorbed the same way by the body due to the presence of fiber in fruit. Also the calorie contents on labels are estimates and not accurate numbers at all (the allowed error margin is massive. So counting calories is not the right solution and will make you crazy.

What an excellent video Lucy. You-ve made weight loss so simple. I-m lucky, I-ve always been a normal weight, sometimes well below normal, but I totally get how complicated losing weight is. Companies such as weight watchers and slimming world have made losing weight so much more complicated than it really is just to make money leaving people miserable and feeling a failure because they haven-t been given the right tools. People know about the calorie deficit, eating less, expending energy, moving more but forget about the consistency. Your enthusiasm and real life experience comes across so well. Even though I don-t need to lose weight, I-m going to watch some more!

You are one of the few who explained it in detail, but in interesting and motivating way, especially the part when you say people don't need to track calories because I tried it for just for a couple of days and I'm not good at it, sometimes I can't put in the app exactly how much grams I ate of something, or sometimes I cook something that I had, and maybe it's a combination of foods that usually people don't eat combined so it's not in the app, and it's hard to know just how much I'm eating, so this is a great video, you calmed my nerves thinking I won't be able to lose weight, it's not that much weight, but it's still hard to be consistent and lose it -

I feel so motivated when I watch these videos of yours. I actually started count calories about a month ago and I can say that helped me lose some weight. I figured that I was eating much more than I should (I was eating portions like my bf and I'm almost half of him - I still could but I don't. I found out that some foods have more calories than I thought and maybe that was the reason I stagnated with my weight even when I excercised. Now I feel more confident about what I can and cannot eat (or how much. Eventually my goal is to eat intuitively like you -

I am trying to start my journey as best as I can but it is kinda tricky for me because I still live with my parents and they make it really hard for me to eat healthy because they only buy and cook foods that are fried or use a huge amount of sauces. I can't even keeo track of calories. It is really hard for me because I came to a point where I try to restrict some things the best that I can but then, because I am used to those flavors, I binge eat and then I feel guilty and restart the cycle. Do you have any tips for me?
