James Gunn Scandal Sparks Outrage & Questions, Ninja Ligma Diagnosis, Cuba, Japan, & Trump vs Iran TheChiDeCo: Why is redemption not a plausible concept for people? We all know that we constantly change and develop, so why is it that when there's one negative that's exposed to the world, some people cannot accept the fact that you've become a better person beyond that negative? It's as if apologies and authenticity don't matter, as everyone else gets to decide if your apology is relevant or not. James Gunn shouldn't have been torn down like that. Yes, what he said is very much inappropriate and insensitive, to say the least, but that's what he SAID in 20082012, not what he's saying now. These people and Disney seem to believe he lived 610 years of his life without realizing his mistakes. Even after he apologized. Even after they did a thorough background check, and he's made movies that have been enjoyed and inspired by millions for them. Even after he has proved that he has grown as a person. Now, I may be wrong or too biased as a 21-year old talking about society, but I'd like to think that as a person that's gone through many failures and mistakes, and still trying to own up to them and grow out of them, that I have some rights, if not a single one, to say this: James Gunn and his career shouldn't have been undermined by tweets he made, and admitted were made, for the sake of relevancy and attention in the past that he's already grown out of.

Here's an idea: stop making insensitive jokes or jokes in bad taste and you won't lose your job. The best comedian around right now is John Mulaney and if you pay attention to his specials, he rarely makes an insensitive joke and he's done it less over the years because he realized how not okay it was. He didn't need a scandal to get there. If you won't do it to stop from hurting people, at least do it to protect yourself. I don't agree with looking back at people's history. Given what James Gunn said, I think he was genuine; or he's a pedophile that's good at manipulation. Still, nothing makes what he said okay and he accepted the consequences. He'll be fine. If you're defending James Gunn, you don't agree with him that as a director for DISNEY, international owner of All the Media, he can't have had a history of making violent, unfunny PEDOPHILE JOKES.

This is the monster the regressive left/SJWs created. Surprise surprise it didn't start becoming a problem and they didn't start defending it until that monster started biting their own. Their hypocrisy and in-group bias is very telling. They supported and perpetuated the whole 'zomg fire/boycott/harass anyone that says something non-pc a decade ago' as long as the target/victim was someone they didn't agree with politically. Now that it's happening to the same SJW lefties Hollywood is now magically defending them. I can't help but to smirk when a guy that supported and perpetuated the backlash/outrage machine got hit too. Let's keep in mind this is just a few months after he said Rosanne should be fired.

So we are going after people whose bad behavior was a series of terrible jokes back when the people who were offended by these jokes didn't have as loud of a voice as they currently do? If he has already apologized & owned up to his past behavior (& he did do so, what is the point of getting him fired now? How does that help the situation? He has already grown & changed so getting him fired does what exactly? TURN YOUR RAGE AGAINST THE RIGHT PEOPLE OR YOU WILL LOSE ITS POWER. This is incredibly counterproductive & it shouldn't have happened. P. S. SHUT UP TED CRUZ, this is NOT about you.

In relation to the Cuba thing, socialism is fine as long as there are well thought out rules. As to the 'Party elects the prez' thing, yeah, and? Australia, altho a democratic country, does not elect the leader of our country. Rather, we elect a representative, and whichever party gets the most reps elected, they then become the ruling party and the leader of the party becomes prime minister. At ANY time, whether elected or not, the party can change there leader. In the last 10 years or so we ended up with 5 leadership changes. A party is elected for 3 years.

Honestly, If I was Ninja Id just say thank you for the free advertisement. Edit: did you just remind people about Daddy? (I didn't know what it was about but reminding people about it seems like a dumb thing to do. There is no timeline for when people can dig up something about you. There is probably a formula that includes how famous you are and how much media attention it can get since I dont see in the media talk much about a random guy in texas who wrote something about guns for his 4 followers, its always the big ones.

Even if the president of Cuba would still be elected by Parliament, wouldn't that technically qualify as a form of democratic leadership if the people elect the members of Parliament who appoint the president? I ask because this is how it works under democracies with parliamentary systems (i. e. Britain. More specifically, even though the British prime minister isn't directly elected, Britain's system of government is still considered democratic inasmuch as the MP's who select the PM are democratically elected.

As for the James Gunn question, basically can a person change: A person can't not change. If you gave the you of ten years ago a completely different appearance and interacted with them, you'd have no idea they were you. Every moment, every choice, every experience kills off who you were and turns you into the person you are now. As for determining what aspects and tendencies have carried over, that is a whole other can of worms whose complexity can only be guessed at, poorly.

My view on the James G situation is that this is what leftist extremists like many employed by disney asked for. I'm unhappy that we can't recognize people grow and change, if he had committed a crime I would have a different opinion, but as of now he only said nasty things in the past. Actions speak louder than words, if they were actions instead of words then I'd want him fired. Hopefully this will show we shouldn't just fire people because of their words.

I really think that if someone is genuinely remorseful and there's been a few years since those words were said then I'd definitely brush the situation under the rug. Personal growth and change happens to all of us, plus to me any form of satire or comedy is subjective and shouldn't be subject to this outrage culture. The moment you persecute one person for their words, you are censoring them and once censorship starts when will it truly end?
