I don't know if i have depression. But I often notice that i get over bad shit happening to me really fast. When my ex cheated on me i was heartbroken, the next day i was over it almost completely. And it has been like that with everything. Since throughout my childhood and school years i was the easy target for bullying by others and even my own family (long story about psychological abuse from my mother, and physical from my brothers. I feel normal so to speak, but then there is a random day i feel really sad, hopeless and useless. Next day im totally fine. Worst one i had lasted for a week. But usually its just a day. I don't know if thats depression or just a bad day. The ONLY thing that makes me feel really alive is when i take a hike in the forest. But the weird thing is i dont feel depressed. I've dealt with so much shit alone that my brain is hardwired to immidiantly get over it since nobody else is listening or have been able to help me. Im mostly perfectly fine. I just don't get it. On paper i should be an emotinal wreck, but i'm not.

I recently got diagnosed with Mayor depressive disorder and it has been a roller coaster before and after. Before getting diagnosed I didnt know it was that bad until it got worst. I was convinced that I didnt had to get help. I have always been scared to go get help. It was so hard to be vulnerable and talk how I really feel. Decided to go to the college psychologist and I cried in every session, I was (am) all over the place. After a few sessions she suggested a psychiatric evaluation. And here I am, the only people who knows are my boyfriend and sister. I have lost the few friend I had, it affected my college grades, my social life, everything. Today I started my medications after having them and not having the courage to accept that I needed them.

Alot of these apply to me and im younger than 15 and I told myself I should never cry or show emotions of sadness and just feel upset or anger or happiness around friends and family Idk if I should tell my family or anything but I cried while watching this. I have zero self confidence and I don't tell people about my feeling and I just don't know how to like deal with my feelings and I've been like this since I was 8. Idk if this is normal. If anyone can help me figure out a way to atleast tell my friends I will be forever grateful to you. I know i should figure it out myself but im pretty dumb and bad at literacy sorry!

It hit hard with the showing your depression and then hiding it afterwards I always give signs like crys for help to my friends but I always hide it afterwards I say stuff like Im always sick mentally sick I dont even wanna live Im a failure but always make it sound like a joke and only say it when it can be used as a joke they might laugh sometimes they might be suspicious and it feels like Im always just sitting in the shell thats my body and watching out watching them thinking if just they knew what would it led to? That a question I have every day and Im never trying to answer it of sheer fear its gona end bad

You typically won't hear this advice surrounding the subject of depression, but you also need to be careful of who you reach out to for help. The sad truth, is that not all doctors are intelligent people that keep your well being as a priority during your time with them. There are also many mental health institutes now that are not going to help you, but they will prey on you with the number one priority is to take your money. It is EXTREMELY important to ask for help, it is also important to have boundaries and skepticism when consulting medical professionals.

my parents whenever i tell them i am not feeling good or something they always say it's my fault or i watch phone that's why i don't understand why them don't even try to see if we are happy or sad if we act rude or aggressive they will say you don't even have any manners you became arrogant btw even in internet everyone advising how to love our parents how to see their pain what about us why no one talk about our pain why always our pain our talks olders ignore saying we are child why would we have feelings right it's really sad and disappointing

Its crazy how anger is the only emotion I feel comfortable with. Its like an outlet for me. when Im angry Im not anxious when Im angry I get things done instantly.
But when Im angry Im not myself I was an angry person my whole childhood. getting in fights at school literally every chance I got but now that Im an adult I have to confront my emotions. I cant just be angry all the time its hard because I dont know who I am without being angry Ive always been angry but Im tired of being angry I know it a lot to ask but I just want to be happy

Sooo, just a question for people and maybe someone that knows what this is (tried to look it up and can't find anything about it)
Has anyone ever felt so alone and hopeless that a weird feeling fills your chest? Almost like your chest is becoming numb/nonexistent and it's slowly spreading throughout your body. I've been trying to figure out what it is specifically and have come up with nothing. It could be just an intense emotion, but I'm not entirely sure if an emotion can make you feel as if your dissolving from the inside out.

I had this feeling from past 2 years but I never talked about them with my parents because they still think, Theres Nothing like depression, we all have tension. and people who seek for psychologist or psychiatrist are mental
But one day, I couldnt take it and asked them to please take me to a psychiatrist. And here I'm diagnosed with severe depression and OCD. Nothing changed. But at least one step in chaning my parent's mindset that psychiatrist is not for mad.

I have all but one of these, if anyone can help me please let me know, I'm at the point where I often have the thought wouldn't it be easier if I was dead, I know I need help, but I can't tell my parents cause their the main problem, like, how do you walk up to someone you have to live with every day and say I need therapy because you made me hate my life and myself, if anyone out there can help, PLEASE let me know.

Sometimes it's just me, nobody else I know feels these things. People hide their depression because they're ashamed and embarrassed (I do. And then if you confide in a 'friend' count on getting evaluated and bashed behind your back. I need someone to have my back behind my back. Family is out, there's no compassion available there. This is a very long walk home. Home where the people who deeply love me are waiting.

My depression, self-hate and deeply disturbed view of self, affects everything in my life, everyday, awake or asleep/trying. I have been through a lot of childhood trauma and I have always and to this day, struggle with positivity and the point behind my existence. I am ashamed to be alive, I feel fu cked up and embrassed for exising. Im not suppose to be here.

My meds (and my age) can make me extremely depressed and Im supposed to tell the doc if its making me depressed, but Ive only got a few weeks left if my symptoms occur weeks after Im off the meds, I might actually have depression, but my parents sorta deny my emotions because they think oh its just hormones or then you should go outside more?

I also know I have depression and everything said is evidence yet, people just tell me to just snap out of it. Depression is such a devastating mental illness thats overlooked by society. I just dont feel the reason to be living on earth and at times I just think the best way to stop all this pain is to end my life
reply

This explains a lot why I been questioning things a lot for one, and truly there isnt much of a way to simply elaborate the thoughts and questions about life
Theres always more questions than answers, and sometimes those answers lead to even more questions

Been medicated for anxiety and depression for 30 years. The only thing that helps is exercise, and forcing yourself out of the house, which in turn pushes away all the sad or negative thoughts and memories.
Take one step at a time. Exercise, and be out.

I don't want to discount anyone's experience but it is inconceivable to me that parents could be the enemy. When I went through this stuff, it was my parents who SAVED me. They helped me get my life back. Especially my dad. The man is my hero.

As a person who has depression I have a really bad habit of saying I dont have time to be sad or I tell myself I can only be sad for 1 hour today
Itll still bother me and Ill end up trying to push it deep down inside as I tell everyone Im fine

I think the reason I have random, without cause outbursts of emotions is because Ive always done number 11. it just builds up and sometimes my body releases it at random times like yesterday, I cried for no reason at all. There was no trigger
reply

Everybody around me says I rarely smile and that I'm cold to everyone. Infact, I actually ignore my emotions too much, it's hard for me to express them. Nb understands me, neither do i. Sometimes I wish i have sb to talk these things about.

Does anyone else feel trapped like me? I'm stuck in this depression rut and I can't get out. Somedays I feel like I can take on the world. Most days however I feel like I can't go on. My life has been unraveling for years. I feel so alone.
reply

Damn I might be close to those signs and I want to thank you for this video. I thought what I knew about myself and that it's normal I realized I was lying to myself and don't want to confront that side of myself because it's scary.
