Today I am making fideo with ground beef for lunch. This recipe is versatile and can be dry or soupy. Ingredients 7 oz pkg (198 g) vermicelli pasta 1 lb (454 g) ground beef 1/3 of a small onion 2 to 3 cloves garlic 2 Roma tomatoes 1 Tbsp beef bouillon powder 1/2 tsp salt 1 tsp garlic powder 1/2 tsp onion powder 1/4 tsp ground cumin (optional) 1/4 tsp black pepper 4 to 6 cups water

Looks great! I have been making what i call bacon tomato fideo for years and it is my oldest duaghters favorite. I cook a pound of bacon, toast the fideo in the grease, drain the grease and pat both the bacon and fideo with a paper towel then break the bacon in little pieces before adding a can of diced tomatoes with juice and a can of tomato sauce with the bacon and fideo in a pan and simmer until the fideo is soft. It doesn't look very good but it is awesome.

My mom made fideo for us growing up and it was so comforting and filling. She used fresh tomato and onion from her garden. Today she is 80 years old and cooks this for all 7 of her grandchildren. My kids love visiting to have grandmas fideo and clean the pot on every visit. . Food is love and memories.

? What size of pot is it that you used? Would everything fit in a 2 qt as I only have two sizes, or would I need the 5 qt?
Thank you for the recipe as I have those noodles but thought they only made soup, I like the dry cooking better so I'm making this for our lunch today.

Comfort food! Growing up in a family of 13, Mama really needed to stretch a dollar and made fideo with hot dogs. We kids loved it! And I like seeing that you served yours with a Mexican grilled cheese sandwich, as my Chicago born Husband calls them.

Looks delicious and easy to make! I just need to find vermicelli that's sold separately from Rice a roni (which I use to love to eat when I was younger) Can't wait to try it! Thank you for sharing! God's peace and blessings to you and your family.

I love fideo, but I'm really odd (how my husband puts it) and I can't stand ground beef! I'm going to have to try this and see if it helps with my anti ground beef mind set! I adore you
Edit: it's kinda like hamburger helper but way better!

We love your picadillo tacos and that was going to be dinner tonight, but we also have vermicelli, so now it's a toss up. Your picadillo tacos work really well with veggie crumbles and veggie broth, so I'm sure this will too!

I agree with toasting the fideo first. It just tastes better, toasty! There are so many variations of fideo. I really like this one! Gonna give it a try this week! The only thing I think I'll do differently, is add tomato sauce.

My ex used to make his families fideo. but it had a tomato sauce? I guess all families make it different. I loved his and I'm sure I'd love this version too. It was such a budget friendly meal when we were low on cash!

You really have the talent for making simple ingredients look special. I think it is because you put your heart into it. I love what you do and think you are a great influence on cooks of all ages and cultures.
